Here we go again Madrid: Episode VIII: Mas Jamon [On The Road: Madrid]

It didn't do me any good either! That benefit was the worst show I ever did. Some of those heckles were really uncalled for: "Avast ye matey" what the hell does that mean? "20 degrees off the starboard side, the Spanish Galleon" there's no comeback for that
Jerry Seinfeld (Seinfeld episode “The Puffy Shirt”)

There is nothing better in Madrid than getting some Iberico, jamon, chorizo a little bit of bread and you are ready. I got a recommendation to go to this place Mas Jamon. The place is a couple blocks from the Bernabeu so I took the opportunity to pass by before the match.

Madrid vs Valladolid
The Place
The place is a cozy tasca style restaurant, hanging hams everywhere and a menu focus around Iberico ham. We got there got a couple cañas and ordered a couple plates to share, Iberico ham, chorizo, and pan con tomate.

Excellent place, friendly service, and amazing Iberico. Ideal if you’re going to a match to have a couple beers and great ham.

Love the beer draught "Ham Style"

A Bakery in Druid St

Mmmm, I love the smell of bakeries
Elaine Benes (Seinfeld episode “The Dinner Party”)

St John Bakery opened in November 2010 in order to supply their three locations. Justin Gellatly was the original head baker master of his domain. These days Yohan is running the show and keeping the tradition based on working with hands, focus on sourcing quality, and give the bread all the time it needs to ensure St John’s quality. Good news for all of us is that the place opens for public only on Saturdays as the producers “open door” market in Maltby and Druid streets.

Bakery
Apart from the bread there are three treats you shouldn’t miss, the doughnuts, the brownies, and of course the madeleines. I have written before about the brownies but they are so good I need to talk about that again. If you love chocolate you must try one. 70% dark Valrhona chocolate, hazelnuts and unbaked almonds, a treat for gods. Madeleines are baked on the hour so you can enjoy them hot.

Brownies & Madeleines
And finally the doughnut, they are Justin creation, you can choose between custard or jam. As everything they offer it is a real treat.

Now you know St John Bakery is open between 9.00 am and 2.00pm every Saturday morning, don’t waste another week without trying their amazing baked treats.

Coffee Enquiry XIX: Caravan in Granary Building

I don't want free coffee. It's not hard to get coffee. I can get my own
damn coffee. I wanted to hear what came after that "Plus"
Jackie Chiles (Seinfeld episode “The Maestro”)

If you like coffee you have to go to Caravan in King's Cross. The place is huge, tapas style restaurant, all day menu, brunch and breakfast, coffee training ground, brewing accessories, roastery, and obviously plenty of coffee. They have their roastery in house, sourcing beans from single farms around the world, and roasting small batches of beans every day.

Espresso blend is strong and nice, great for a macchiato, perfect extraction, and nice latte art.
